THE MUSIC

A musical about musicians that pitches the passion of love against the passion for music, delivered through an intriguing story set in romantic Paris. A truly emotional experience – and some tongue-in-cheek fun!

Beautifully crafted, stunning all-new compositions, largely influenced by classical music concepts, the rich arrangements are creative and committed to quality.

Eclectic vibrant elements of dramatic classical, smooth grooves, passionate ballads, salsa, reggae and even a rock number thrown into the mix. Beautiful sweet melodies and harmonic exploration, superbly delivered by magnificent vocal talents.

Inspired by the illustrious Symphonie Fantastique which the French classical composer Berlioz wrote to win the love of a woman.

THE STORY

Set in modern day Paris, classically trained composer Hector is not doing very well. He is just about to give it all up and drown his cello in the river Seine, when he is stopped just in time by Chopin, an accordion playing street performer.

And then, voilá, into Hector’s life walks pretty Aurelie, a carefree young street musician, whose joie-de-vivre fascinates Hector, and makes him want to do “anything” to win her heart. But Aurelie’s rich producer-boyfriend Jean-Sebastian plots to get Hector out of the way. The story takes us from Paris to New York, from classical music through ballad, rock, Latin and more.

Who will win, and is the spirit of Berlioz with Hector in this triangle of Love, Music, or Fortune?
To quote from one of the songs: “We’ll take you on a journey, where no-one else has gone!”

  DID YOU KNOW...?

Berlioz and Moon Landing:

Each of the Apollo astronauts was issued with a cassette player; as Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin set foot on lunar soil, their colleague Michael Collins zoomed above the Sea Of Tranquility in his lonely command capsule immersed in the suitably wonderstruck strains of Berlioz's Symphonie Fantastique.

MAIN CHARACTERS:

Hector:

Aspiring composer; his hero is Hector Berlioz; sensitive, artistic, passionate; forgets everything around him when he plays his music; his love is music – and sometimes Aurelie!

Aurelie:

Carefree, pretty, street-wise; enjoys performing her flute with her friends at the banks of the River Seine ; enjoys her privileges of having a rich boyfriend; falls for the sensitive Hector – we think!

Jean-Sebastian:

Aurelie’s rich producer-boyfriend; he loves her, but knows that it helps to shower Aurelie with gifts and produce her music to encourage her to stay –it's worked so far!

Chopin

He is Hector’s counterpoint; he becomes his friend. His motto: “Life is like a bicycle, as long as you keep moving you won’t fall” - saves Hector from despair more than once!

The God-of-Rock’n-Roll:

Thinks he is important and famous, therefore he needs two body guards; has no clue of what else goes on in the world, but is quite loveable – he’s convinced he’s the best!

Musica:
The silent ballerina responding in dance to the music and action, her presence isn’t explained; nor does it need to be - ,,,
